The last quarter of brokering activity would seem to be in line with market commentator reports that there is a general slowdown in the economy. While the 'pipeline' has remained positive, I have found many clients have been reluctant to commit to longer term projects. That said, I am now pleased to report that we have seen a general increase in activity pre-Christmas and hope that this will continue well into 2005. The types of projects we are seeing clients commit to at present include large scale rollouts of training initiatives (sales, finance, compliance training), implementation of training to support systems integrations and e-learning consultants in all areas including instructional design, web developers and consultancy. This last quarter has also seen us finalise administrative priorities resulting from our merger with Reg Polson. This has prompted us to initiate some exciting projects, namely the development of our online consultant database. This enables us to complete comprehensive searches matching consultants to client opportunities. For existing consultants we have used existing data from resumes held on file, however a lot of resumes are out of date and we strongly encourage consultants to update their profiles, using the online database to do this. More information on how to do this to the right. As this is the time of year that most consultants ramp up marketing activities, I strongly suggest you update your online profile as a key priority! Our HR/HRD recruitment service has been used by a number of clients over the past few months. We tend to get more senior assignments at the HR and HRD Manager level. One of the trends we have noticed is that a number of organisations are rebuilding their internal capability. Another trend we have noticed is that a significant number of consultants are feeling some isolation in working on their own and are re-entering the permanent work force so that they can become part of a team again and have more closely involved in the long term outcomes of their contribution. Given the collaborative nature of our business approach, we have been able to work in association with recruitment firms who have a preferred supplier arrangement with clients, but who are prepared to partner with us in order to get access to our HR network and expertise.
