I recently enjoyed a week's break and had the opportunity to chill out with my son and his visiting grandparents from NZ. It was a joy to see my son connect quickly with his nana and granddad and watch him truly engage with and learn from an older generation. This got me to thinking about the current rhetoric surrounding the maturing workforce and the need to find ways to retain this generation's knowledge, stewardship and values in the workforce in whatever capacity that takes (eg flexible and innovative work practices etc.) Not only do preceding generations benefit from experience and technical expertise of this generation, but also from core values that are not always immediately obvious in younger generations. aCE is starting to look at ways in which we can assist retention of these valuable workers in the workforce.
This month has been extremely busy with a lot of activity in facilitation, from one off team building interventions to national project rollouts. Clients are also seeking talent for capability in emotional intelligence, online instructional design, multimedia development and change management. We look forward to working with our clients to match our talent network to these and other opportunities.
Hope you all have a terrific & busy month ahead.
Happy Consulting,
Deirdre

- Much of what professional firms do in the name of strategic planning is a complete waste of time! No more effective than individuals making New Year resolutions. The reasons are the same in both situations. We know WHAT to do, we know WHY to do it and we know HOW to do it. Yet we don't change.... World renowned David Maister's "Strategy and the Fat Smoker" delves into these ponderings in some detail and more....
- The latest High Flyer Trend Report makes for compelling reading. A study was conducted to see if recent cultural, economic and technological changes have impacted on the motivational drivers of talented individuals. These findings would then be compared to the current beliefs in the human resource industry. An interesting read.
- BPR Your Life!! ...In recent years, Business Process Reengineering (BPR) has revolutionised Australian businesses allowing us to do more with less. Applying the same principles of BPR to your own work patterns can similarly save you time and make you feel more productive. Read the latest from Cindy Tonkin.
