Just DO IT!
The hardest 5 minutes in "just do it" are "get out the front door".
Getting started in a purposeful and engaged manner is probably the hardest part of achieving your goal.
How many of us have set ourselves new goals about getting fit or healthier in the past 12 months. If you bear out statistics, then over 90% of those goals have not gotten past the intention.
Others such as D1 (Deirdre) and D2 (Denise) (as we like to call them).. Have gotten past the things that make it hard to get started, work, family, life, wine, chocolate. etc and have gone on to achieve physical goals that only a few short weeks ago were considered beyond the realms of reality.
In our business lives, our spiritual lives and our personal lives, we also often find ourselves in that loop of frantic but familiar activity that takes away any time we have for those new and important goals. We find ourselves procrastinating or avoiding those new goals.
Interestingly, the internal characteristics you require to Just Do It in a physical context are pretty much the same as the characteristics you require from a business, spiritual or personal perspective. You need to ability to
- Face your fears,
- Take the resources you have available to you now and start.
- To head in a direction even if it is to simply find out it was the wrong direction.
- To embrace those aspects of your life that will support your achievement and manage those aspects that will hinder.
- Most of all.. You need to get out the front door.
So lets go back to those goals you set in the past 12 months. A lifestyle change can start with an hour a week. Go on you are worth it.
Guess what, there isn't any rescue boat coming your way. You are pretty much responsible for making the change that you need to make. Some thoughts that might help you to get out the front door are:
- How much of your time is dedicated to other people with family and work commitments?
- What about your health? Are you not responsible for that too?
- How important do you see yourself?
- What was the last endeavour that you started for you that felt exhilarating?
- When was the last time you did something that scared you? That you had to conquer and feel alive in?
Theinnergame™ is a development program that is focused on your professional, physical and personal development. It reveals to you the games that are played out in the mind, regardless of the endeavour that you undertake.
It is the game against opponents such as fear, self-doubt, procrastination, pain, both emotional and physical, limiting influences and the other voices inside your head.
Regardless of the endeavour, these opponents will be encountered. How we deal with them is a learned behaviour that we repeat time and again.
With awareness of our patterns, beliefs and plan of attack for the innergame we can develop new strategies to tackle these opponents with as we continue to play the game.
With awareness comes opportunity for improvement. With improvement we can achieve the extraordinary.
